Job summary

Otis is a world-leading elevator and escalator company. We seek an experienced Lift Tester to join the Modernisation team in London and surrounding areas, focusing on safe testing, commissioning and delivery of a portfolio of elevator units.

On-site work requires knowledge of elevator systems, fault finding and wiring to standards, plus a driver’s license where needed. You may stay away overnight and will inspect installations with customers.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of elevator equipment and applying elevator engineering principles to installation.
• Able to test, fault find and resolve challenges and wiring of third party equipment to standards.
• Driver's license where required.
• At least 6 months of elevator experience, ideally on site or in installation.
• Strong electrical and mechanical skills; comfortable with plan reading and calculations.
• A technical product appetite and satisfaction from completing finished work.

Role Overview

This role plays a critical part in ensuring the safety of passengers and stakeholders, through the safe testing, commissioning, and delivery of a portfolio of elevator and escalator units.

On a typical day you will:

• Test , Trouble shoot and resolve challenges on elevators with quality and efficiency
• Work in a safe manner in accordance with all Environmental Health & Safety guidelines.
• Stay away overnight as and when required
• Liaise directly with the customer while on site to build a good working relationship
• Conduct inspection before and after installation to ensure high quality and safety standards

What you will need to be successful:

• As a qualified Tester, it is essential that you have knowledge of elevator equipment and that you can apply elevator engineering principles to Installation.
• You are qualified to Test , fault find and resolve challenges and wiring of third party equipment in elevators to the standards set in your country
• You hold a driver's license (as necessary)
• You have at least 6 months of experience in the field of elevators, ideally acquired in the assembly activity or at least experience on site and / or installation
• You have good electrical and mechanical skills.
• You are comfortable with plan reading and calculations.
• You have an appetite for technical products and new technologies.
• You appreciate manual trades as well as the satisfaction of seeing the finished work.
