A major civil engineering project in Dawlish is in need of a seasoned Lift Supervisor to take charge of all crane-related activities on-site. This role centres around the safe handling and movement of materials and machinery for the excavation of a 17.5m diameter shaft reaching a depth of 20m. The successful candidate will oversee lifting strategies, ensure regulatory compliance, and supervise a dedicated lifting crew throughout this technically demanding project.

Position Summary

A major civil engineering project in Dawlish is in need of a seasoned Lift Supervisor to take charge of all crane-related activities on-site. This role centres around the safe handling and movement of materials and machinery for the excavation of a 17.5m diameter shaft reaching a depth of 20m. The successful candidate will oversee lifting strategies, ensure regulatory compliance, and supervise a dedicated lifting crew throughout this technically demanding project.


Primary Duties
  • Direct and monitor lifting activities across the tunnelling and shaft construction zones.

  • Liaise with site supervisors and project managers to plan and execute lifting operations.

  • Manage crane crews and slingers to maintain operational flow and workplace safety.

  • Ensure that all lifting operations meet current UK industry and health & safety standards.


Essential Qualifications & Experience
  • Previous experience leading lifting works within civil or tunnelling environments.

  • Up-to-date qualifications including:

    • CPCS (Blue Card)

    • Certified Slinger/Signaller ticket

    • Medical certificate from a SEQOHS-accredited provider (Safety Critical)

  • Strong working knowledge of site safety legislation and lifting protocols.

  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams under high-risk conditions.

  • Confident decision-making and planning skills in a dynamic work environment.
