Lifeguard: Ultimate Holiday Camps - Romsey, Hampshire

Location: Stroud, King Edwards School - Shrewsbury

Position: Specialist Instructor (Lifeguard)

Reporting to: Camp Manager

Contract: Seasonal work during school holidays

Hours: 9:30am– 4:30pm weekdays. Full or part-season roles available

Summary of the Position

The Specialist Instructor (Lifeguard) ensures the safety and welfare of children on camp and acts as the lifeguard during swimming sessions. You will be the sole lifeguard during pool sessions, working alongside activity instructors leading activities for children aged 4–14. When not lifeguarding, if over 18, you will participate in delivering sports, arts, crafts, and games, focusing on participation, care, and development.

Staff also contribute to high standards of physical, emotional, and social care, with a pastoral role as a group leader, maintaining welfare and providing quality care.

Responsibilities

• Lifeguard during scheduled swimming sessions for all children
• Act as a group leader, welcoming children and liaising with Camp Manager and parents
• Supervise and engage with children outside activity times
• Maintain cleanliness of the pool area
• Promote children's welfare continuously
• Exhibit energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism, serving as a role model
• Adhere to all camp policies, health and safety, and safeguarding procedures

Candidate Requirements

• Qualified lifeguard (NARS or NPLQ) with appropriate depth certification
• Able to pass a pool competency test
• Maintain physical fitness as per NPLQ standards
• Confident and assertive on poolside
• Experience working with children in childcare settings
• Energetic, enthusiastic, and passionate about child development
• Good organizational and communication skills; confident in leading groups
• Flexible team player adaptable to dynamic situations
