Job summary

Newbridge Upper Academy in Essex is seeking a reliable Lifeguard / Pool Attendant to help maintain a safe, clean and welcoming pool environment for pupils, staff and external users. You will hold a current RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) and be responsible for lifeguarding, poolside supervision, water testing and general pool maintenance.

The role includes supporting pupils in the pool and changing areas, maintaining equipment and assisting with community lettings.

Qualifications

• Current RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) held at time of application.
• Strong commitment to health, safety, and safeguarding.
• Excellent observation and communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm and act decisively in emergencies.
• Experience with children or in a school environment is desirable.
• Pool plant or water treatment experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lifeguarding duties and poolside supervision to keep pupils, staff and visitors safe.
• Water quality testing, routine cleaning and support of pool operations.
• Assist with community lettings and basic pool plant checks.
• Support pupils in the pool and changing areas; maintain pool equipment.
• Training will be provided where required; may include evening or weekend work.

THIS ROLE IS BASED AT NEWBRIDGE UPPER ACADEMY, 258 BARLEY LANE, GOODMAYES, ESSEX, IG3 8XS

We are seeking a reliable and qualified Lifeguard / Pool Attendant to help ensure our school swimming pool remains a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and external users.

The successful candidate will hold a current RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) and be responsible for lifeguarding duties, poolside supervision, water quality testing, routine cleaning, and supporting the safe operation of the pool and associated facilities.

The role also includes supporting pupils in the pool and changing areas, maintaining pool equipment, assisting with community lettings, and carrying out basic pool plant checks. Training will be provided where required.
