Job summary

Freedom Leisure is seeking a Lifeguard to help run our leisure centres across England. You will ensure friendly, safe and clean facilities while delivering excellent customer service and supporting community wellbeing.

This part-time role offers a flexible rota, training provided, and a generous benefits package including pension, cycle-to-work, staff discounts, and ongoing development opportunities.

Qualifications

• NPLQ qualification or equivalent (desirable).
• First Aid at Work.
• Ability to relate to customers of all ages and abilities.
• Well developed interpersonal skills.
• Strong swimmer and able to attend a week-long training course.
• Team-oriented, able to work across organisation boundaries.
• Flexible and able to follow instructions from managers.
• Passion and energy for the leisure industry.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high levels of service for customers by maintaining friendly, clean and safe facilities.
• Provide lifeguard supervision and respond to emergencies as trained.
• Assist with training and development of swim programmes and activities.
• Engage with customers to create positive experiences and promote health and wellbeing.

We will provide all the training needed to be a successful Lifeguard but we also believe that employing people from a mix of employment backgrounds can offer a wider benefit to our team, some of which might be in their first ever job and need more support from their colleagues.

In the role of Lifeguard, you will ensure the best levels of service are achieved for our customers through offering a friendly, clean and safe facilities.

We’re not looking for the next Duncan Goodhew but you will need to be able to swim competently. If you need extra coaching to get to the level needed to become a lifeguard, don’t worry as one of our excellent swim teachers will be able to support you to improve.

Hours: 8 hours per week, Monday - Sunday (rota basis)

• NPLQ qualification or equivalent, would be desirable
• First Aid at Work
• An ability and understanding of how to relate to customers of all ages and abilities and also to all levels of staff
• Well developed interpersonal skills
• Strong swimmer and able to attend a week long training course
• Team orientated approach, able to work across organisation boundaries and demonstrate interest and be supportive of the work of staff and colleagues
• To be able to work flexibly and understand instructions from managers
• Demonstrated passion and energy for the leisure industry
