Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a qualified Lifeguard to supervise the pool and leisure facilities, respond to emergencies, and ensure safety procedures are followed. You will also deliver excellent guest service and help maintain a clean, welcoming leisure environment.

The role combines lifeguarding duties with customer service and facility checks, offering the chance to develop leisure and operational skills within a wider resort team dedicated to delivering an exceptional guest experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the swimming pool and leisure areas and maintain the safety of guests.
• Respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies.
• Administer first aid where required and follow emergency procedures.
• Enforce pool rules and promote safe behaviour within the facilities.
• Carry out routine pool plant and water quality checks and maintain accurate records.
• Complete opening and closing checks in line with company procedures.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation across poolside, changing and leisure areas.
• Provide a friendly, professional and welcoming service to guests.
• Identify and report hazards, maintenance issues or safety concerns.
• Follow health and safety, safeguarding and company policies and procedures.
• Work collaboratively with the wider leisure and resort teams.

About the role

We’re looking for a qualified, enthusiastic and safety-focused Lifeguard to help provide a safe and enjoyable environment for our guests.

You’ll supervise our swimming pool and leisure facilities, respond confidently to emergencies and ensure safety procedures are followed at all times. Alongside your lifeguarding responsibilities, you’ll help maintain a clean, welcoming and well-presented leisure environment and provide excellent customer service to our guests.

What we’re looking for

Essential

• A valid National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or equivalent recognised qualification

• Strong awareness of health and safety within a leisure environment

• Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergency situations

• Excellent communication and customer service skills

• A professional and approachable manner

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable

• Previous experience working as a Lifeguard

• Experience carrying out pool water quality or plant checks
• Previous experience within leisure, hospitality, holiday parks or a similar customer-focused environment
• Additional first aid or leisure-related qualifications
