Job summary

Thomas Search is seeking a Design/Project Manager to oversee a portfolio of lifecycle projects across Wiltshire & Hampshire, from inception to delivery. You will coordinate design consultants and contractors, ensure compliance with building and fire regulations, and maintain clear documentation and handover manuals.

The role emphasizes collaboration with AMP managers and stakeholders to secure value for money, sustainability outcomes, and robust design solutions in a defence environment.

Qualifications

• Degree, HND or HNC in Building, Engineering or Architecture.
• Professional qualifications in Architecture, Engineering, Construction or Project Management are advantageous.
• Experience across complex multi-funded projects with knowledge of JSPs and Building Regulations.
• Experience delivering sustainability improvement projects in defence contexts.
• Exposure to PFI/PPP arrangements and two-stage tendering processes is essential.
• Experience working within a BIM environment would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of lifecycle projects from inception to delivery.
• Define scope, funding routes and delivery approaches with AMP managers and stakeholders.
• Coordinate design consultants, contractors and contractor design elements.
• Provide ongoing design support through construction and handover phases.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to achieve value for money and sustainable outcomes.
• Engage with Building Control, Planning Authorities and Fire Officers early on.
• Lead design coordination and ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
• Oversee design risk assessments, programmes, reporting and team coordination.
• Support procurement and construction teams throughout tendering and delivery.
