Job summary

Ocean Conservation Trust Ltd. seeks a Life Support Systems Engineer for the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth. You will maintain critical life support systems, motors, pumps, electrical panels, and HVAC, ensuring reliable operation and safety.

Training on aquatic systems is provided, with opportunities to work electrical or mechanical biased paths. The role requires a proactive engineer ready for a 3-on/3-off shift pattern (07:00–18:00) and commuting within 30 minutes of the aquarium.

Qualifications

• Qualified and experienced engineer.
• Full training in aquatic systems will be provided.
• Electrical or mechanical bias for the role.

Responsibilities

• Upkeep and repair of life support systems and 3 phase motors and pumps.
• Electrical installation and repair of building services.
• HVAC and general building maintenance.
• Fault finding and problem solving across systems.
• Must be able to work a 3 day on, 3 day off shift pattern including weekends and bank holidays.

Do you want to be part of the team responsible for keeping one of the Southwest’s top tourist attractions running smoothly and efficiently? The National Marine Aquarium at Plymouth isowned and run by theOcean Conservation Trust (OCT), an organisation that focusses on habitat restoration and behaviour change. We are recruitingaLife Support SystemsEngineerto work within the National Marine Aquarium, maintaininglivestock and building services.

This isan interesting and variedengineering role, certainly not your average9 to 5.

Duties include upkeep and repair of critical life support systems,3 phase motors and pumps,electrical installationand repair,HVAC and building maintenance,as well asfault finding andproblem solving.

You’ll need to be aqualified and experiencedengineer with apositiveattitude and capacity for learning.Full training in aquatic systems will be provided.We are considering bothelectrical andmechanical biased for this role.

Electricals will need to have detailed understanding of electrical control panels and control systems,domestic/commercial wiringas well as 3 phase motors.

Mechanicals will need to be proficient with pneumatic and manual valves and mechanical seals.

You’llworka 3 day on,3dayoff shift pattern,07:00 to 18:00including weekends and bank holidays.The engineering teamprovide out-of-hours emergency response services, whichmeansit’sessentialyoulive within a30-minutecommuteof the aquarium.
