Life Science Engineer - North UK & Wales

We are seeking a dedicated Service Engineer to support our Life Science service team across North England and Wales.

Getinge is a respected OEM, committed to saving lives through manufacturing and maintenance of life science products and solutions. Our Service Team leads our business, responsible for routine servicing, testing, and repairs of equipment in Life Science facilities throughout the UK and Ireland.

You will utilize your technical skills to ensure smooth operation of our machines, representing the company and building strong relationships with customers and colleagues to deliver excellent service.

This is a field-based role requiring self-motivation and the ability to manage your workload independently. You will receive support from the Service Office, Service Managers, and our Technical Services Department, which has direct access to manufacturing sites and technical expertise.

The ideal candidate will have a background in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering with relevant qualifications. Comprehensive training on Getinge’s equipment will be provided. Our Career Progression Pathway assesses your development bi-annually, rewarding continuous learning and growth.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out routine maintenance, servicing, and breakdown repairs of Getinge equipment on customer sites.
  • Performing routine validation on Getinge and third-party equipment, meeting customer expectations.
  • Investigating electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Understanding P&ID diagrams to troubleshoot breakdowns.
  • Calibrating a range of Life Science equipment.
  • Promoting upgrade campaigns and participating in project implementation.
  • Upselling and cross-selling Getinge’s portfolio of capital equipment and consumables.
  • Providing OEM training to customers when required.
  • Conducting onsite evaluations and preparing reports for potential opportunities.
  • Offering telephone technical support to customers.
  • Participating in meetings with the Life Science Service manager for feedback and planning.
  • Organizing and prioritizing a dynamic workload, ensuring timely responses to customer inquiries.
  • Collaborating with service coordinators and team leads to ensure efficient coverage and uphold Getinge’s reputation for professionalism and responsiveness.

Requirements:

  • City & Guilds Levels 1 & 2 or equivalent in electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • CSCS (Service & Facilities) HVACR Skills Card.
  • HTM2030 / HTM 2031 or HTM2010 certification (desirable).
  • Experience in a field service or maintenance role, preferably within medical, pharmaceutical, or process industries.
  • Adaptability under pressure in a dynamic environment.
  • Genuine interest in customer service and a friendly manner.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
