Job summary

M&G plc is seeking a Risk Manager - Assurance & Insights to lead Life NFR assurance, perform thematic reviews, and provide independent risk opinions for governance bodies. You will challenge control effectiveness, oversee remediation, and drive insight across the Life business while coaching teams in assurance techniques and report writing.

The role requires strong stakeholder management, deep risk experience in financial services, and the ability to translate findings into actionable

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Operational/Non-Financial Risk and risk assurance within financial services.
• Strong understanding of risk frameworks, governance, regulatory expectations and control environments.
• Proven track record leading assurance reviews, deep dives and cross-functional activity.
• Experience in root cause analysis, remediation effectiveness reviews and control assessments.
• Ability to translate complex risk information into actionable governance outputs.
• Excellent stakeholder management and report writing capabilities.
• Experience coordinating cross-functional reviews with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead assurance executions and thematic reviews across Life risk themes.
• Analyze issues, events and RCSAs to identify recurring concerns.
• Lead root-cause and lessons-learned reviews and challenge management.
• Assess design, operating and remediation effectiveness, incl. Provision 29.
• Develop evidence-based risk opinions for Executive and Board governance.
• Support the assurance universe and annual plan as directed by senior managers.
• Coordinate cross-business reviews with central NFR and Compliance SMEs.
• Translate findings into opportunities to strengthen risk management.
• Coach analysts in assurance techniques and report writing.
• Provide support to Risk Manager and Transformation Senior Manager as needed.
