co-educational Catholic school situated on a lovely 20 Ha estate in Silverton, Pretoria.

Life Orientation and Social Sciences Teacher (Grade 8 & 9)

in the High School

Key competencies and responsibilities of this role include:

  • A recognised degree and/or a 4-year professional teaching qualification with Life Orientation and Social Sciences as a specialisation with at least 5 years’ teaching experience.
  • Proof of registration with SACE
  • A passion and vision for both Life Orientation and Social Sciences.
  • A sound and progressive understanding of international trends and changes in education and 21st century learning.
  • Experience in leading change, transformation, and diversity initiatives within the two subject areas.
  • Superior planning, organisational and reporting skills.
  • Teaching at an IEB school will be advantageous.
  • Create classroom communities where all members of the class are valued and contribute to the creation of knowledge.
  • Evaluate, reflect on, and refine teaching practice.
  • Knowledge in creating varied and innovative learning programmes and assessment.
  • Interest in cross-curricular and interdisciplinary work.
  • Be innovative, embrace technology in the classroom and display a creative teaching style that supports Hybrid Learning. Microsoft 365 certification or experience is advantageous.
  • Strong organisational, administrative and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and a willingness to contribute to a dynamic team.
  • Ability to build healthy relationships with staff, students, and parents.
  • Willing to contribute to the wider life at the school, with the ability, skills, and experience to become actively involved in the school’s co-curricular activities.
  • Willing to support, promote and work within the Catholic Ethos of the School.
