Job summary

A leading aviation solutions company seeks a Licensed Technician Supervisor to oversee aircraft maintenance and lead a team of engineers. The role involves ensuring compliance with safety protocols and supervising the certification of maintenance work. Qualifications

Description
Job title: Licensed Engineer / Licensed Technician (Supervisor)
Reports to: Head of Operations
Location: BZZ

Job Purpose
An aircraft engineer that must be able to satisfy MAA RA4801(1) to hold appropriate company approvals, required to perform aircraft maintenance and certification tasks in accordance with Technical Documentation and Company Procedures. Expected to supervise an area or to be solely responsible for an aircraft e.g. AOG/Casualty.

Key responsibilities
  • Carry out work as directed by their SLE providing assistance to other staff (any trade) to ensure safe and effective working practices.
  • Address and report any safety concerns immediately.
  • Carry out reporting/progress monitoring and escalation as required by the Hangar Management team for their areas of responsibility.
  • To manage the progression of targets and milestones as set by the SLE; reporting back and escalating issues immediately.
  • Ensure that equipment is maintained in a serviceable, clean, tidy and safe condition, reporting any faulty equipment immediately using the correct channels.
  • Carry out additional team responsibilities or any other reasonable request from your SLE or Hangar Management Team.
  • Be prepared to work ‘hands on’ on the aircraft as required.
  • To recommend to the SLE any improvements that may increase safety and/or efficiency.
  • Aim for continual improvement, using problem solving and initiative where applicable.
  • Raise and complete paperwork accurately and ensure that documentation is promptly and accurately completed by employees under their supervision. Ensuring paperwork is completed by close of play each day.
  • At request of the business, obtain and exercise company approvals within trade to full extent of their EASA licences held, thereby providing maximum contribution.
  • To perform and certify aircraft maintenance IAW Technical Documentation and Company Procedures.
  • Certifying own work and that of others under their supervision within scope of approvals held.
  • Monitoring Fitter time on task, duty start/finish and break times.
  • Estimating defect task times and justifying as required.
  • Always ensure constant good husbandry, monitoring those under your supervision and lead by example. Ensure any team secondary duties are completed.
  • To mentor Apprentices/Trainees/New Starters and to monitor these whilst working on tasks and report as necessary to the SLE.
  • Lead groups of engineers on task to deliver assigned work. Supervise maintenance staff, including addressing performance issues, assigning tasks and setting priorities.
  • Will attend training for Towing/Radiotelephony/Bowser/Forklift as requested by the Hangar Management team.
  • Be prepared to hold Form 1 approval as requested by the Hangar Management team.
  • Carry out any reasonable request to carry out offsite support e.g. AOG, Line.
  • Remain up to date with all Read & Sign notices.
Health and Safety
Understand individual operational safety and security responsibilities including

  • Be aware of personal health and safety and the health and safety of others at work. Including Management responsibilities as required by H&S Manual.
  • Be aware of aviation safety responsibilities with regards to the AAGDS Safety Policy. Including Management responsibilities as required by the Safety Management Manual
  • Be aware of aviation security responsibilities with regards to the AAGDS Security Policy.

Essential skills and qualifications
  • MAA approved or Licensed self-certifying Engineer, Part 66 B License and holding a Level 3 or 4 authorisation on A400M types.
  • Lead by example with behaviour and as a practicing Engineer carry out hands on tasks as and when time allows.
  • Able to act up to SLE as requested.
  • Form 1 approval holder
  • Has had a Competency Assessment completed and is at a satisfactory level across all areas.
  • Ability to lead and work effectively in a team.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Ability to lead groups of engineers on task(s).
  • Good working knowledge and understanding of the MS office suite of applications to support the organisational reporting policies.
  • Excellent awareness of Aviation safety and Human Factors.
  • Excellent communication skills.
