This is a full-time SNF Floater position located in the Birmingham, AL area.

Primary Function

The assistant is a skilled, technical worker who performs physical therapy treatments and related duties as assigned by the therapist.

Staff Physical Therapist/Clinical Director

Physical Demands

Requires standing, bending, stooping, lifting, climbing, and extensive physical activity. Must be able to stand for long periods and walk extensively without extreme fatigue. Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. unaided, over 50 lbs. with mechanical assistance. Operation of electrical equipment is required.

Interpersonal Relationships
  1. Supervises Rehab Technicians.
  2. Treats patients after evaluation by a Registered Physical Therapist.
  3. Participates in in-service training for staff.
  4. Consults with the physical therapist regarding patient progress and care plans.
  5. Collaborates with other departments involved in patient care.
Responsibilities
  1. Adheres to the APTA code of ethics.
  2. Reports to the Staff Physical Therapist/Clinical Director regarding physical therapy matters.
  3. Performs physical therapy procedures according to the Plan of Care.
  4. Provides instructions for home treatment programs in consultation with the Physical Therapist.
  5. Maintains proper equipment and supplies beneficial to patients.
  6. Supports and encourages patients without giving false hope.
  7. Counsels patients and families on specific issues with input from the Physical Therapist.
  8. Supports patient independence physically, emotionally, and socially.
  9. Uses procedures aligned with good patient care and cost-effective resource use.
  10. Records and reports incidents or accidents promptly.
  11. Documents all treatments according to departmental policies.
