Licensed Conveyancer – Ilkley
Are you an enthusiastic and organised legal professional looking to grow your conveyancing? An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Licensed Conveyancer with ideally 5 PQE+ to step into a leadership role within a highly regarded and growing law firm. We are looking for a dynamic and commercially minded legal professional to manage their own caseload, mentor junior staff and play a key role in the continued development and success of the Residential Property department. You must maintain the Licenced Conveyancers qualification to be considered for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle a full caseload of residential property matters, including sales, purchases and re-mortgages, with minimal supervision
- Provide clear, practical legal advice while maintaining the highest standards of client care
- Supervise, support and develop team members, contributing to training, mentoring and performance reviews
- Take responsibility for achieving personal and departmental billing targets
- Ensure effective progression of all client matters, keeping clients regularly updated on progress and costs
- Maintain compliance with SRA and Law Society regulations, Solicitors Accounts Rules and all firm protocols
- Oversee file management and diary control processes, ensuring timely completion of transactions
- Manage credit control on personal files in close coordination with the accounts team
- Drive business development initiatives and identify growth opportunities in collaboration with the Head of Department and senior leadership
- Represent the department internally and externally, promoting the firm’s values and professional image
Leadership & Strategic Involvement
- Play a proactive role in the strategic development of the Residential Property team and wider firm
- Collaborate with partners and senior management to identify and implement process improvements
- Support firm-wide marketing initiatives and client relationship management strategies
- Encourage and contribute to the professional development of junior team members through coaching and in-house training
Requirements & Qualifications
- You must maintain the Licenced Conveyancers qualification
- Proven ability to manage a busy caseload independently
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is highly desirable
- Strong mentoring and team-building skills with a positive and supportive approach
