Job Title: Quality Control Chemist | Category: Technical roles | Closing Date: 28/05/2025
Location: Brighouse
Type: Permanent
We are working with a chemical company in Brighouse seeking a Quality Control Chemist to support their laboratory, primarily involved in developing additives for textiles.
This role focuses on supporting the technical team with activities such as formulation, new product development (NPD), efficacy testing, and data reporting in an ISO 9001 and 14001 compliant environment.
You will support an existing chemistry team developing textile additives (Cotton, Polyester, Nylon, Wool, etc.) to enhance flame retardancy. The chemistry is tailored to client needs based on performance, ecological factors, cost, and other considerations.
The role involves formulating chemicals on a kilogram scale to assess properties and analyze performance through laboratory testing, including flame testing, pH, specific gravity, viscosity, and solvent testing. While QC will be a smaller part of your duties, the majority will involve customer-focused activities like NPD and formulation.
Applicants should be graduates in chemistry or a related field, with experience in textile testing, formulation, or flame testing preferred. Training will be provided for areas you're less familiar with. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, confident, a team player, and resilient.
Organizational skills and diligence in record-keeping are essential, as your work will be relied upon by others. The first year will focus on training and development, with opportunities for progression as you become more experienced.
Experience with kilo-scale formulation, flame testing, MSDS, and COSHH processes is advantageous. Proficiency with MS Office and accurate data recording are important.
The client offers a competitive salary (£27,000-£30,000), 33 days holiday, pension, training, and free on-site parking. The role is accessible via public transport, cycling, and walking. Interviews are scheduled for late May and early June. Please contact LiCa Scientific for questions and submit your CV.
