Summary
The Shrewsbury Public Library, a cornerstone of civic life in our thriving community of over 38,000 residents, is seeking a Library Professional Associate – Digital Services Librarian to play a key role in advancing our digital services, technology access, and 21st-century learning initiatives. More than just a place to borrow books, the Shrewsbury Public Library is a dynamic and inclusive space where innovation, connection, and lifelong learning are at the forefront. As our Digital Services Librarian, you’ll collaborate closely with a talented and supportive team, including our Library Professional Associate - Information Technology and two Library Professional Associate – Reference Librarians, to provide outstanding public technology support and digital literacy services.
This is a full-time position that requires occasional evening and weekend hours based on programming needs.
What You’ll Do
- Be the go-to expert for library technology systems, from computers and scanners to barcode readers and our Makerspace tools.
- Troubleshoot tech issues big and small, in collaboration with our Town IT Department.
- Manage and evaluate digital resources and proprietary databases, ensuring seamless access for staff and patrons alike.
- Provide responsive and knowledgeable technology training and digital literacy support to patrons and staff.
- Administer and enhance the library’s website, ensuring it remains current, accessible, and user-friendly (HTML proficiency required).
- Serve as the library’s liaison to the CW MARS network, playing a vital role in regional collaboration.
- Work closely with the Adult Services team to support all public-facing technology functions.
- Supervise volunteers and contract workers, guiding their efforts and ensuring consistency in public technology service.
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of adult programs, especially those focused on digital literacy and emerging tech.
What You Bring
- An ALA-accredited MLIS degree, plus at least two years of experience working with tech systems and digital services, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Hands-on skills in PC and tablet troubleshooting, LAN/network support, web design, and software like G-Suite, Microsoft Office, and Adobe products.
- Familiarity with Evergreen ILS or similar platforms preferred.
- Strong understanding of professional library principles, especially those related to digital services in a public library setting.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- A commitment to customer service excellence, equity in digital access, and working with people of all ages and abilities.
