Job description

RCS are looking for a part-time Library Assistant to work in the busy Information Services Department. The working pattern is during term time only: Mon 4.30pm - 8.30pm, Thu 4.30pm – 8.30pm, Sat 11am – 5pm, and Sun 12pm – 4pm.

Salary Scale: £24,530 per annum pro rata

We are: looking for a part-time Library Assistant to work in the busy Information Services Department. The working pattern is during term time only: Monday 4.30pm - 8.30pm, Thursday 4.30pm – 8.30pm, Saturday 11am – 5pm, and Sunday 12pm – 4pm.

You are: someone who won’t be fazed by a demanding, intense, and passionate environment. We are the only Conservatoire in the UK that offers training in all the performance disciplines, and, as you’d expect, the demand for library materials to support the curriculum and performances is high.

You must have: excellent and proven customer service skills. Delivering first-rate customer service is important to us, so you will need to be experienced, skilled, and confident when dealing with staff, students, and the public alike – exceptional inter-personal and communication skills are a must. You must be capable of organising and prioritising your workload as well as working as an effective member of the Information Services team.

Previous library experience and excellent computer skills are highly desirable, as is knowledge of the performing arts.
