Job summary

Ocado Logistics is recruiting an experienced LGV Instructor for a full-time role offering a 4-day week. You will train and mentor LGV drivers in classroom and on-road settings, ensuring safety, upskilling, and compliance across Erith, Purfleet or Luton locations with travel to other sites.

You will deliver inductions and CPC courses, develop driver behaviour, and provide hands-on coaching to build confidence and capability. An NRI/NVDIR is desirable, with a valid LGV licence and CPC.

Qualifications

• An NRI or NVDIR qualification is desirable, but no NRI or NVDIR certification? No problem! For the right person, we’ll support you in getting fully qualified.
• Full Clean Driving License (preferable).
• Minimum 3 years LGV Class 1 experience.
• Up to date Driver CPC. Up to date knowledge of the highway code and traffic regulations.
• Knowledge of LGV technology and basic maintenance.
• Experience of completing on-road driving assessments.
• Experience of delivering classroom presentations.
• Experience of developing driver behaviour and attitude.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on coaching and classroom-based training to enhance skills and confidence.
• Plan and deliver effective LGV training, ensuring compliance and safety.
• Mentor newly appointed and existing LGV drivers across sessions and sites.
• Lead inductions, CPC courses and ad hoc training projects to upskill drivers.

Love coaching, problem-solving, and keeping drivers at the top of their game? In this dynamic role, you'll train and mentor qualified LGV drivers both in the classroom and on the road, ensuring they stay safe, upskilled and compliant.
No two days are the same -so if you’re looking for variety and a challenge, this is the role for you!

• Varied & Engaging – 60% classroom training, 40% on-road coaching
• Based in either Erith, Purfleet or Luton (which ever is closest to you) with some travel across other sites (mileage and hotel costs compensated)
• 4-day week (10-hour shifts) – with occasional pre-planned night & weekend work, booked weeks in advance!
• Diversity within role - lead and inspire the next generation of LGV drivers through engaging inductions, CPC courses, driver upskilling and ad hoc training projects, making sure our drivers are fully equipped to deliver and keep themselves safe every day.

Be the Go-To Training Expert

As an LGV Instructor, you’ll inspire and develop new and existing drivers at Ocado. You’ll be the trusted expert on-site, providing hands‑on coaching and classroom‑based training that enhances skills, builds confidence, and ensures compliance. You’ll have full ownership and autonomy to plan and deliver effective training, using your expertise to support our newly appointed LGV driver cohort and existing drivers in developing their skills and confidence.

Your training will:

• Improve service levels and driver performance
• Reduce Occupational Road Risk and enhance road safety
• Support core health & safety objectives across the business
• Help shape best practices in LGV training and development

About You

An NRI or NVDIR qualification is desirable, but no NRI or NVDIR certification? No problem! For the right person, we’ll support you in getting fully qualified.

You will also need
