LGV Driver - Class 1

Overall Job Purpose

You will be responsible for the timely and safe delivery and collection of goods as directed by the Transport Team, ensuring compliance with all requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Location: Units 1-3, Watling Park, Station Rd, Watford, Northampton NN6 7XY

Employment type: Permanent, Full Time

Hours: 50 hours per week, Monday-Friday, Days (Variable shift times)

Key duties include:

• Ensuring you are correctly licensed to drive the vehicle you oversee, as per the RHA Professional Drivers Handbook
• Performing daily vehicle checks to ensure the vehicle is fit and safe to operate
• Ensuring loads are safe and secure, even if you did not load them
• Maintaining the vehicle's weight within legal limits, including axle weights
• Adhering to drivers’ hours regulations
• Driving safely, considering the vehicle's size, and within speed limits
• Arriving on site with sufficient time to plan routes and complete vehicle checks
• Reporting any vehicle defects or issues promptly
• Carrying out deliveries according to the planned route and contacting the Traffic Office if issues arise
• Returning all paperwork at the end of each shift
• Checking that loaded goods match the delivery schedule and are scanned into the system
• Verifying goods are secured and resolving any issues before departure
