Job Description: HGV Driver

Freightliner is the UK's largest maritime intermodal logistics operator, transporting containers from all major deep-sea ports to our national network of inland terminals. We are also a leading operator in the UK Heavy Haul rail freight market. Freightliner operates across Europe, offering seamless Intermodal and Heavy Haul rail freight services connecting European countries and the UK.

The UK operations of the Freightliner Group include entities such as Freightliner Group Ltd, Freightliner Heavy Haul Ltd, Freightliner Ltd, Pentalver Transport Ltd, and Pentalver Cannock Ltd.

DUTIES

1. Perform all roadworthy checks of vehicles and trailers as per the Rulebook for Motor Drivers.
2. Drive vehicles with due care and attention in the terminal and on public highways, ensuring maximum economy through correct driving practices.
3. Ensure the safety of loads and vehicles at all times, and meet security and safety requirements when parked off-site.
4. Promptly collect and deliver containers to designated locations.
5. Report any damage to company or customer property and accidents involving the public in accordance with the Drivers Rulebook.
6. Notify the Road Services Office of delays during loading/unloading to manage associated costs.
7. Complete all collection and delivery documentation with signatures, company stamps, and accurate recording of times.
8. Maintain and record tachograph discs and other logs as required by law and company policies.
9. Represent the company professionally when with customers, adhering to grooming policies. Complete non-traditional freight work with training provided, as per the Drivers Rulebook.
10. Rope and sheet loads to meet the standards outlined in the Loading Standards Manual.
11. Keep assigned vehicles clean, tidy, and odour-free, with no unauthorized stickers or adornments.
12. Occasional overnight stays may be required, with a night out allowance provided.
13. Comply with the Rulebook for Motor Drivers issued by Freightliner Ltd.
14. Attend mandatory and vocational training sessions as required.
15. Perform any other duties as directed by your Line Manager, consistent with your skills and competencies.
