Salary: Competitive starting salary of £21,500 per annum, increasing to £38,126 - £47,674 per annum after completion, depending on shift pattern.

We have an exciting opportunity at Thames Water to become a class one LGV driver for articulate vehicles. You will complete the apprenticeship at Basingstoke STW and then transition into a permanent position working from Mogden Sewer Treatment Works.

The start date is 1st September 2025. Note: If you already hold a class one license, you are not eligible for this apprenticeship.

What you will be doing as an LGV Class One Apprentice Level 2

This is a great opportunity to learn essential skills in high demand across the industry, setting you on your career path.

Typical duties include:

• Shadowing drivers to learn routes and site visits.
• Driving with intersite teams to transport sludge between sewage treatment works.
• Delivering cake to farmers for field spreading.
• Assisting with wet well maintenance to prevent blockages.
• Vehicle movements including welfare units, tankers, Hiabs, cars, and 4x4s.
• Assisting with vehicle maintenance to keep Thames fleet operational.

About the Apprenticeship programme

• Embedded induction programme with Thames Water and Seetec Outsource Training and Skills.
• On-the-job training provided by Thames Water.
• Dedicated apprenticeship coach for regular training, skills development, and performance evidence gathering.
• Access to online learning and an e-portfolio for performance evidence and end point assessment preparation.
• Duration: 12 months plus 3-6 months for end point assessment.

Working hours

38 hours per week, typically starting at 09:00 am onsite. Hours may vary during training or college attendance.

Qualifications

Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC) and C+E license.

Requirements
