Job summary

A leading exhibition company in London is seeking front of house staff for the BFI London Film Festival from 1 October to 20 October 2025. Responsibilities include customer service, assisting audience viewing sessions, and providing support to technical teams. The ideal candidate has experience in customer-facing roles and a keen interest in immersive technologies. This is a fixed-term role requiring at least 100 hours of commitment.

Qualifications

  • Proactive and customer-focused with previous experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Experience working in a gallery, exhibition, film festival, arts venue or theatre.
  • Keen interest in immersive technologies and experience with VR headsets is a plus.

  • Support the smooth running of the exhibition and assist audience viewing sessions.

  • Assist technical teams and provide support for the XR exhibition.

Job description

The hosts will also support the smooth running of the exhibition, including assisting audience viewing sessions for immersive and interactive artworks and relaying any necessary safety and artistic information about the works they are viewing.

BFI London Film Festival (LFF) runs an Industry & Professional Programme of screenings, events, networking and informal marketplace for around 3,500 film industry professionals alongside the main public festival.

  • Fixed-term, 1 October to 20 October 2025
  • Time commitment: a minimum of 100 hours over the course of the contract. You will be required to work to shift rota which will be set by the department.
  • The successful candidates will be asked to attend mandatory training on 01 October 2025, and will then be on-site from either 03 October or 08 October (depending on venue).
  • Acting as front of house, greeting guests, giving welcome briefings, checking tickets, and providing excellent customer service.
  • Onboarding and offboarding guests into the experience, using the script given for the specific piece. Optimising the audience’s comfort and ensuring the equipment is running correctly.
  • Assisting the technical and production teams, providing support for the XR exhibition where needed, flagging issues for attention in a calm, professional and methodical manner.
Person specifications
  • A proactive and customer-focused approach, with demonstrable experience in customer-facing or front-of-house roles.
  • Previous experience of working in a gallery, exhibition space, film festival, arts venue or theatre.
  • Keen interest in XR, VR, AR or other immersive technologies (please also mention in your application if you have experience operating VR headsets or immersive technical equipment).
