Qualifications

Overview

Arlingclose is a successful City of London firm providing treasury and accounting advice to institutional investors across the United Kingdom. We are looking to appoint Level 7 accountancy apprentices to join our growing consultancy team to deliver quality financial and accounting advice to our public sector clients.

Role details

Wage: £27,100 a year

Hours: Monday - Friday, 9.00am - 5.30pm (these times may vary by half an hour). 37 hours 30 minutes a week; 20% of your time will be dedicated to your learning.

Start date: Monday 3 November 2025

Duration: 3 years

What you’ll do at work
  • Assisting clients to produce financial statements in accordance with accounting standards and applicable legislation.
  • Analysing clients' balance sheets and projecting cash flows in line with medium term financial plans.
  • Performing financial statement analysis on local authorities, housing associations, banks and other companies.
  • Valuing investments and debt for inclusion in clients' accounts.
  • Analysing the performance of client investment portfolios and investment funds.
  • Summarising publications into advice notes for a non-technical audience.
  • Meeting clients and investment managers to understand their strategies.
  • Organising and attending client events.

Training

Apprenticeships include time away from work for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Training provider: CIPFA BUSINESS LIMITED

Training course: Accountancy or taxation professional (level 7)

What you’ll learn

Training schedule
  • Level 7 Accountancy Professional Apprenticeship with CIPFA leading to qualified accountant status within three to four years.
  • Focus on the public sector, including green finance, environmental reporting, data analytics and ethical principles, alongside traditional accounting and financial reporting areas.
  • Newly qualified CIPFA members can take an additional module and submit a statement of intent to qualify for ICAEW designation.
  • You will attend the CIPFA Education and Training Centre in person.
  • There are opportunities for further training relevant to the specific role.
