Level 4 Engineering Manufacturing Technician Apprentice

Join to apply for the Level 4 Engineering Manufacturing Technician Apprentice role at GOOCH & HOUSEGO (TORQUAY) LIMITED.

At Gooch & Housego (UK) Limited, we are experts in photonics - the technology of light. We design and manufacture world-class systems and components. Headquartered in Ilminster, with operations in Europe and America, we work with customers worldwide to provide optical systems, assemblies and components often deployed in harsh environments.

Responsibilities and Training

• Complete training to the required standard and obtain the agreed academic qualifications.
• Complete up to eight modules including Polishing, Machine Shop, Coating, CNC, Quality, Engineering (subject to change) over the first three years. Specialise and be assessed in an agreed area for the final year.
• Listen to and respect mentors supporting your development.
• Report achievements at the end of each module and provide feedback to your mentor.
• Follow, process, and complete all Job Sheet documentation, maintaining accurate records and ensuring product integrity and traceability.
• Maintain the work environment according to Health and Safety regulations.

Academic Component

Day release attendance at Bridgwater & Taunton College, Bridgwater Campus for academic training.

Shift Pattern

Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4.30pm in the factory or 8:30am-5:00pm in the office, depending on department and availability.
