Job description

Bede Academy has a fantastic opportunity for 2 Teaching Assistant Apprentices to join their Secondary School site in Blyth in September 2025.

What will the apprentices be doing?

The apprentices will provide support within the Academy environment to enable any child or children to gain maximum access to the National Curriculum by following clear guidelines provided by involved agencies. Main duties include:

  1. Assist students following a programme of support defined by the Individualised Learning Department, working alongside teaching and other staff based on the needs of the students.
  2. Collaborate with teachers and staff as part of the teaching team.
  3. Support students with learning difficulties using resources to aid reading, writing, spelling, and computer-based learning under teacher supervision.
  4. Help students develop alongside their peers using programmes directed by the Individualised Learning Coordinator.
  5. Update the Individualised Learning Coordinator on student progress and challenges.
  6. Familiarize with learning needs and strategies for students with ADHD, autism, specific learning difficulties, and other challenges.
  7. Support students with emotional and behavioral difficulties under supervision.
  8. Undertake relevant training to improve skills and knowledge.
  9. Act as mentors for students.
  10. Perform other duties as required by the Principal.

The apprentices will undertake the Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship, lasting 21 months. They will be based at Bede Secondary, Sixth Avenue, Blyth, with a classroom session at Blyth Sports Centre every 3 weeks.
