Job summary

TeacherActive is partnering with a welcoming primary school in St Helens to appoint a Level 3 Teaching Assistant for a full-time, temporary role starting September 2026. The successful candidate will support pupils with SEND and SEMH, work with teachers and the SENCO, and help pupils access learning with confidence.

The ideal applicant will hold a Level 3 TA qualification, have primary school experience, strong behaviour management, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
• Experience working in a primary school setting.
• Experience supporting children with SEND, including SEMH needs.
• Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, patient approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Genuine passion for supporting children to achieve their best.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
• Support pupils inside and outside the classroom to promote engagement and positive behaviour.
• Assist with planning and delivery of tailored learning activities.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
• Monitor pupil progress and contribute to reviews and support plans.
• Promote a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school seeking to appoint a dedicated Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, temporary basis.

The successful candidate will have experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to provide high-quality support, helping pupils access learning, develop confidence and achieve their full potential.

The role will involve:
