A leading special needs school in Selly Oak is actively looking for a dedicated Level 3 Teaching Assistant. You will work closely with students who have cognitive and physical disabilities, providing essential 1:1 support and contributing to lesson preparations. Applicants should possess a Level 3 qualification and familiarity with special needs strategies like PECS and Makaton, along with a valid DBS check.

Qualifications

Level 3 Teaching Assistant

Location: Selly Oak, Birmingham

Duration: Full time, on going

Salary: £85 – £100 per day

The School/role:

An outstanding special needs school in Selly Oak, Birmingham is currently seeking a full-time 1:1 teaching assistant. This community special school serves students with cognition and learning difficulties, as well as physical disabilities and complex health needs.

This will include supporting teachers with material preparation for lessons, assisting with displays and providing direct 1 on 1 or small group student support.

The ideal candidate for a SEN TA role should:

  • Demonstrate experience or a strong interest in supporting children with SEN
  • Possess prior experience collaborating within the SEN Department
  • Exhibit flexibility, proactivity, and patience
  • Show nurturing and compassionate qualities in their approaches
  • Communicate effectively within a team

A new enhanced DBS will be needed for this role or a subscription to the DBS update service.

Requirements:

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification
  • PECS and Makaton training/experience
  • ASD, SLD, Complex needs – Non verbal needs experience
  • Level 1 safeguarding certificate
  • Recent school based references
  • Valid Photo ID – Driving Licence or passport
  • Full DBS – on the update service
