Job summary

Milton Keynes City Council is recruiting a Social Worker (Level 3) to join our South Family Support Hub within Children’s Services. The South Family Support Hub works with children, young people and their families to provide early help and targeted support where there are concerns about a child's welfare, development or wellbeing.

The team coordinates multi-agency support, undertakes assessments, and works with families to reduce risks and strengthen protective factors.

Qualifications

• recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England.
• Experience of working with children, young people and families, with the ability to build positive relationships that support meaningful and lasting change.
• Strong assessment, analytical and decision-making skills, with the confidence to manage risk and respond effectively to complex situations.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate records and work collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies.
• Resilience, adaptability and the ability to manage a varied caseload while balancing competing priorities and meeting statutory timescales.
• A commitment to continuous professional development, together with a valid UK driving licence, access to a vehicle and business insurance to support travel across Milton Keynes and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking child and family assessments, ensuring children are seen, heard and understood, and that assessments are completed within required timescales.
• Developing, implementing and reviewing plans and interventions that meet the needs of children and families while working within relevant legislation and statutory requirements.
• Managing a complex caseload and taking timely action to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes.
• Working closely with schools, health professionals, police, family support services and other partners to coordinate support and achieve lasting change.
• Representing the Local Authority in court proceedings, preparing reports, statements and care plans where required.
• Contributing to a positive team culture through effective partnership working, professional supervision and continuous development.
