Job summary

Milton Keynes City Council is recruiting a Family Help Practitioner to join our Children's Services team. The role can be part-time or full-time and is site-based at a Family Help Hub.

You will support families with medium to high needs, conduct assessments, and develop tailored intervention plans to improve outcomes for children. Applicants should hold a Level 3 qualification or equivalent, understand safeguarding, and be able to build trusted relationships within a multi-agency team.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Level three qualification or equivalent.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and legislative framework for working with children and families.
  • Clear communication and ability to build trusting relationships.
  • Ability to work in a multi-agency team.
  • Ability to assess needs and develop effective support plans.
  • Organised, self-motivated and able to manage a varied workload.

Responsibilities

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary Family Help Hub to build trusted relationships with families.
  • Carry out assessments to understand the needs and risks for children and families.
  • Develop and deliver tailored support and intervention plans.
  • Manage a caseload of families with medium to high levels of need.
  • Maintain accurate records and produce clear, high-quality reports.
  • Work closely with partner agencies to deliver joined-up support.
  • Deliver parenting programmes to support confidence and behaviour management.
  • Complete regular visits and monitor progress against plans.
