A specialist setting in South Shields is looking for a Level 3 TA to join their team supporting children and young people aged 3–16 with a wide range of additional needs. It’s a nurturing, purpose-built school where aspiration, commitment, manners, and enjoyment guide everything they do.
You’ll be part of a team that sees the potential in every pupil and works closely with teaching staff, therapists, and families to unlock it.
Providing tailored 1:1 and small group support across Primary and/or Secondary phases
Using de-escalation, regulation, and therapeutic approaches to support emotional wellbeing
Helping pupils develop communication, independence, and life skills
Collaborating with the wider support team to ensure consistent care and learning strategies
A Level 3 TA qualification (or equivalent)
Proven experience supporting pupils with SEND (ASD, SEMH, PMLD, or complex needs)
Confidence using communication systems (e.g. PECS, Makaton) and sensory strategies
A calm, empathetic approach with strong behaviour support skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
