Job Description:

Your new company

Hays Recruitment is proud to support a Warrington-based high school that is easily accessible via public transport. They are looking to appoint a motivated, experienced, and qualified teaching assistant to support a pupil in KS3 with a dual diagnosis of ASD and SEMH. This is a full-time long-term contract, where you will act as this pupil's main point of contact throughout the school day, meeting them at the school gates and walking them back to their guardians at the end of the day.

Your new role

As a teaching assistant, you will support a male pupil in KS3 with ASD and SEMH, who spends part of his time in a resource provision and part in a main classroom. You will ensure they can access the full curriculum in a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment. Your responsibilities include implementing bespoke interventions across core subjects, incorporating EHCP requirements into learning, and using positive behaviour strategies like brain breaks, sensory circuits, and positive reinforcement. You will also manage challenging behaviours by providing calming time outside the classroom when needed.

What you'll need to succeed

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK, recent relevant classroom experience, and:

  • Experience supporting SEMH and/or ASD
  • Experience implementing positive behaviour strategies
  • Experience delivering academic interventions at KS3 level (minimum)

What you'll get in return

Successful applicants will receive support from a senior DfE-accredited recruitment consultant and a range of benefits.
