Job description

Pay Rate: Depending on Level of Qualification and Experience (to be discussed with the Manager)

The Nursery Nurse reports to the Manager and Deputy Manager.

Duties will include:

  1. Adhering to the Policies & Procedures of the Nursery and complying with the Children Act, Health and Safety legislation, and guidelines of Ofsted and the EYFS.
  2. Maintaining confidentiality within the nursery.
  3. Working collaboratively as part of a team.
  4. Caring for and supervising children, addressing their physical, emotional, and intellectual needs.
  5. Planning and preparing activities tailored to children's individual needs, liaising with parents, and setting work targets to ensure effective communication within the nursery.
  6. Providing equal opportunities for all children respecting their religious beliefs, racial origins, gender, disabilities, cultural or linguistic backgrounds, and addressing any instances of racism or discrimination.
  7. Keeping development records and observations.
  8. Managing children's behaviour positively.
  9. Ensuring the cleanliness, maintenance, and safety of the playrooms and equipment.
  10. Supervising and mentoring Nursery Assistants and Students.
  11. Serving as a role model for staff and assisting new staff in settling into the nursery.
  12. Recording and monitoring accidents, incidents, and risk assessments.
  13. Supervising meals and mealtimes, including preparing bottles for babies where appropriate.
  14. Performing laundry duties.
  15. Attending staff meetings as scheduled by the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager.
  16. Participating in parents' evenings, publicity events, open weekends, and children's outings.
  17. Performing any other duties appropriate to the role as directed by the Deputy Manager and Manager.
