Do you want to work in a ground breaking educational trust?

Education Impact Academy Trust is a MAT incorporating The Hive College, Wilson Stuart School, Queensbury School and Mayfield School. The Hive College is based in Erdington, Birmingham and is a Specialist Further Education College for learners aged 19-25 years with Special Educational Needs and disabilities. In November 2023 we were graded Outstanding in every single aspect of an Ofsted Inspection. We believe that ‘Better Never Ends’.

Our adopted college motto is ‘Believing is achieving’, which resonates through everything we do at The Hive and it’s at the heart of what we want our students to aspire to. We constantly strive for excellence, seeking innovative and collaborative ways of delivering the curriculum.

We benefit significantly from the variety of establishments within the Trust, enabling staff to benefit greatly from the opportunities we have for collaborative working. In addition, we are able to benefit tremendously from sharing best practice and expertise we have within our organisation.

About the role:

We have an exciting opportunity to join the team at HIVE College as a Media & IT Technician, a unique role that combines creativity, technology and the opportunity to make a real impact across our college community.

The primary focus of the role is to help tell the story of HIVE College and celebrate the achievements of our students and staff. Working closely with colleagues across the college, you will create engaging content for our websites, social media channels and internal communications. This will include capturing photographs and video, editing content into a variety of formats, creating engaging digital stories and ensuring our online presence reflects the vibrant and inspiring work taking place every day.

The role also offers opportunities to attend and capture content at a range of exciting events across the Education Impact Academy Trust, providing variety and the chance to build a diverse portfolio of work while supporting multiple schools and communities.

Alongside the creative aspects of the role, you will provide first-line IT support to staff and students across the college. Supported by our experienced Trust-wide IT team, you will help ensure technology is reliable, accessible and effectively used to support teaching, learning and the wider operation of the college. This includes setting up devices, supporting users, resolving routine technical issues and helping staff make the most of the technology available to them.

This role would suit someone who is equally enthusiastic about digital media and technology; someone who enjoys being creative, working with people and solving practical problems. Whether your background is in media, content creation, IT support, or a combination of these areas, this is an opportunity to develop a broad and rewarding skill set within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

Occasional evening or out-of-hours working may be required to support special events and projects.

We can offer:
  • A collaborative and inclusive culture that values every employee.
  • A committed, hardworking team who strive to provide the best education for all students.
  • Comprehensive induction and probation support and regular opportunities for professional development and growth.
  • 10 staff training days across the academic year; one or two of these days may be aggregated which means completing training outside of normal working hours in twilight sessions.
  • An Employee Assistance Programme via the BHSF App – including free totally confidential support, access to a GP 24/7 and counselling.
  • Access to discounts and offers at many well-known retailers and other organisations via the BHSF App.
  • Access to a generous pension scheme known as the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) for support staff or Teachers Pension Scheme (TPS) for Teachers.
  • Generous annual leave entitlement for support staff based on length of service, starting at 29 days pro-rata, rising to 32 at 5 years’ plus service and 34 following 10 years’ plus service. Teachers annual leave is in line with Teachers Pay & Conditions.
  • Family friendly policies.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students and expect all staff to share this commitment. Successful candidates will be subject to all necessary pre-employment checks, including an enhanced DBS, Childcare Disqualification (where applicable), qualifications, medical fitness, identity and right to work. All applicants will be required to provide two suitable references. An online search (and a prohibition check for teachers) will also be carried out as part of due diligence on all short‑listed candidates.
