Role Description

Are you passionate about engineering, innovation, and problem-solving? FET is seeking a motivated and dedicated Apprentice Mechanical Technician to join our expert team at our Kirkbymoorside facility. You will work hands-on assembling and testing mechanical and hydraulic components used in our cutting-edge subsea products. Under the guidance of experienced mentors, you’ll gain practical skills in mechanical assembly, basic wiring, testing, and workshop maintenance. You will play a crucial role in building products that are trusted by industries worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assemble mechanical components for subsea systems, including pumps, valves, and tooling
• Learn and assist in basic electrical and hydraulic testing and assembly
• Collaborate closely with mentors and supervisors to ensure high-quality output
• Support workshop maintenance and maintain excellent housekeeping standards
• Accurately complete required documentation (e.g., timesheets, non-conformance reports)
• Follow all health, safety, and environmental guidelines

What We’re Looking For:

Education:

• A minimum of 6 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including maths and Design Technology (preferred)

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Attention to detail and willingness to learn
• A problem-solving mindset and a positive, proactive attitude
• Interest in developing practical skills with tools and machinery

Experience:

• No prior experience needed – full training provided
