Qualifications

Level 3 Early Years Practitioner/Educator | London, SE22 8PW | 40 hours per week, over 4 days (7:15-18:15) | £27,684.80 - £31,145.40 per year

Our client's nursery is staffed by a dedicated and professionally qualified team. They have a thorough knowledge both of child development and care for children. The team thrive on working as a team to ensure children have the very best of what the nursery has to offer their educational journey.

They are looking for a driven and hard-working Early Years Practitioner/Educator. This role will support and assist in planning and monitoring the nursery environment, and implementing essential policies and procedures. This will require creative thought together with an informed understanding of statutory requirements and best practices for childcare.

Are you the right person for the job?

  • Minimum level 3 qualification in Children and Young People’s Workforce Early Years qualification (or equivalent qualification)
  • Minimum 1 year of post-qualified experience working in a Preschool/Nursery setting with 0–5-year-olds and demonstrate at least the following:

(a) Good working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and current Ofsted statutory guidance.

(b) Awareness and understanding of the regulations relating to early years education

(c) Awareness of purposeful planning for children in childcare settings

  • Good organisational skills and ability to prioritize work
  • Empathy and understanding of children
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills with children and parents
  • Ability to write reports and keep clear and accurate records
  • IT Skills (Word & Excel)
  • Can work as part of a team and able to work on own initiative & under pressure
  • Promote the nursery in a positive and professional manner

What will your role look like?

  • To work with staff in the room to ensure that activities engage and challenge children as well as encourage progression through the stages of development
  • Complete all daily nursery tasks satisfactorily as delegated
  • To be aware of and adhere to the room procedure and risk assessments
  • Comply with the staff ratio to ensure that children are adequately supervised during the day (indoors and outdoors) and at meal times
  • Implement policies and procedures appropriately and as instructed
  • Report any safeguarding issues and document and/or log any incidents, accidents or unusual situations
  • To carry out regular observations on children in the room
  • To ensure effective communication is maintained about children’s welfare, the organisation of the day and passing on any messages to parents
  • Adhere to the company’s Equality policy ensuring that children, parents and the staff team are valued and practice is positive and non-discriminatory
  • Give regular feedback to the Room Leader/Floor Manager about the children including any complaints received or any situation that may be detrimental to the nursery and agree on actions required or taken to resolve such issues accordingly
  • Consider every single day as an “inspection” day by OFSTED and ensure that the rooms are always compliant and can achieve an “outstanding” rating
