Job summary

Skillmatch Recruitment Ltd is seeking an LEV Engineer for a leading UK facilities management contractor. The role delivers planned and reactive FM maintenance with a focus on LEV testing and compliance across diverse environments.

The position requires BOHS P601, a mechanical/HVAC engineering background, and the ability to support risk assessments, RAMS, and safe systems of work. Experience in pharmaceutical or regulated settings is desirable.

Qualifications

  • BOHS P601 (LEV Thorough Examination & Test) essential, with strong knowledge of LEV testing, maintenance, fault diagnosis, COSHH regulations, and HSE guidance (e.g. HSG258).
  • Engineering qualification (Mechanical / HVAC or equivalent) with a proactive, safety-first approach, strong communication skills, and ability to support risk assessments, RAMS, and safe systems of work.
  • Desirable: experience in pharmaceutical or regulated environments (GMP/GxP), knowledge of containment and cleanroom systems, audit support, data analysis, additional BOHS modules (P602–P605), and IOSH/NEBOSH.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out TA/TexT of LEV systems in line with COSHH and HSG258, including airflow measurements, smoke tests, containment verification, system performance assessments, fault diagnosis, and remedial works.
  • Maintain and test a range of LEV systems including fume cupboards, laminar flow cabinets, biological safety cabinets, powder handling and containment systems, supporting complex and non-complex setups.
  • Ensure full COSHH compliance, maintain audit-ready records and documentation within CAFM/CMMS systems, and escalate risks or non-compliance when needed.

Job description

Due to an increase in upcoming projects, there is now a need for an LEV Engineer to join this highly successful and forward-thinking organisation.

Our client is one of the largest facilities management and maintenance contractors in the UK, offering market leading opportunities for talented professionals looking for long term career progression.

We are looking for an LEV Engineer who wants to work in a diverse role where no two days are the same.

As the LEV Engineer, you will provide the delivery of both planned and reactive FM maintenance services.

The LEV Engineer, will be responsible for:

  • Carry out Thorough Examination & Test (TExT) of LEV systems in accordance with COSHH regulations and HSG258 guidance, including airflow measurements, smoke tests, containment verification, system performance assessments, fault diagnosis, and remedial works to restore system performance.
  • Maintain and test a range of LEV systems including fume cupboards (ducted and recirculating), laminar flow cabinets, Class I/II biological safety cabinets, powder handling and containment systems, supporting both complex and non-complex systems.
  • Ensure full compliance with COSHH regulations, HSE guidance, UK statutory requirements, and pharmaceutical standards (GMP/GxP), maintaining detailed records, certification, and audit-ready documentation within CAFM/CMMS systems while escalating risks or non-compliance.

To be successful for this LEV Engineer role you must have:

  • BOHS P601 (LEV Thorough Examination & Test) – essential, with strong knowledge of LEV testing, maintenance, fault diagnosis, COSHH regulations, and HSE guidance (e.g. HSG258).
