Lettings Negotiator (Procurement) - Harrow

Location: Harrow Civic Hub, Forward Drive, Harrow, HA3 8NT

Employer: Pertemps Recruitment Partnership, on behalf of the London Borough of Harrow

Contract Type: Temporary (initial 3-month term, with potential extension)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00

Work Pattern: Hybrid - combination of remote work and office presence at Harrow Civic Hub

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Lettings Negotiator (Procurement) to support the growing team at the London Borough of Harrow. This position offers a competitive hourly rate of £20.57 PAYE, professional training, career progression opportunities, and 21 days of annual leave plus Bank Holidays.

Note: A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Secure private sector accommodation to meet the Council's statutory homelessness duties.
  • Develop partnerships with emergency accommodation providers, including hotels, to source temporary housing, negotiate rates, and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Procure accommodation for vulnerable groups such as care leavers, individuals with no recourse to public funds, and those with mental health challenges.
  • Ensure sourced properties meet regulatory standards and offer value, aligning with Pan London Rates where applicable.
Requirements
  • Experience with private landlords or homelessness services.
  • Strong negotiation skills and focus on value-for-money.
  • Understanding of private rental markets, housing law, and health & safety standards.
  • Familiarity with welfare reform, benefits, and temporary accommodation systems.
  • Ability to inspect properties and assess compliance.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work across teams and with external partners.
