Rathbones, a leading UK wealth manager, invites applications for a Lending Specialist based in Liverpool in a 12-month FTC. You’ll manage lending applications end-to-end, assess affordability and creditworthiness, and support high-net-worth clients and Investment Managers across lending, treasury and risk functions.

The role requires experience in lending environments, strong client service, and the ability to work autonomously within a hybrid setup.

About the Role

Responsible for managing lending applications from initial enquiry through to approval and drawdown, supporting high-net-worth clients and Investment Managers throughout the process. This role offers broad exposure across lending, treasury, risk and front-office functions, with responsibility for assessing affordability and creditworthiness, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering an exceptional client experience. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the continued growth of Rathbones' lending proposition while developing expertise across a wide range of lending products and regulatory environments.

What you'll be responsible for

• Managing client lending applications (for RIM or Investec Bank lending) from initial enquiry to drawdown of funds, including the provision of the relevant pre-contractual advice to clients, affordability assessment and approval according to internal approval scales.
• Managing client overdraft exposures, monitoring positions in line with terms of business and reporting positions through routine MI and by exception, where tolerances are exceeded, according to agreed escalation procedures.
• Providing support for client lending enquiries, liaising directly with clients, investment managers and other internal stakeholders.
• Issue client correspondence in relation to new or existing lending including but not limited to statements or repayment / execution letters.
• Servicing loan interest on a quarterly basis, including raising invoices for clients that elect to pay using external funds.
• Application of debit interest for overdraft balances and subsequent adjustments according to agreed policy.
• Maintain records for all undertakings and guarantees held.
• Ensure all loans are compliant with the requirements of the FCA's CONC and MCOB regulations for creditworthiness and affordability.
• Issue annual review requests to IMs, collating responses for each client and identifying changes in circumstance to be reported upwards the Lending Manager in a summary report.
• Maintain data required to produce MI to be reported to the Lending Manager and Head of Lending.
• Maintain lending procedures, reflecting changes as they occur and testing where appropriate.

About you

• Able to communicate information, ideas, or issues effectively and clearly through the most appropriate channel within the team and to key stakeholders.
• Previous experience within lending, mortgages, private banking, wealth management lending, credit administration or loan processing.
• Experience managing lending applications from initial enquiry through to approval and drawdown. (Desirable)
• Exposure to FCA regulated lending environments (Desirable)
• Experience dealing directly with clients and providing a high level of service.
• Able to organise and prioritise own workload effectively, working to a high degree of autonomy.
• Demonstrate good teamwork, supporting colleagues to achieve team goals.
• High level of accuracy and concentration with ability to grasp new tasks quickly.
• Comfortable working across the MS Office suite of applications.
• Able to translate source data into insightful analysis that supports understanding and decision making.
