Job Description

Square is seeking a highly engaged legal professional passionate about consumer and commercial lending to join our team. Under the guidance of the Global Lending Regulatory Counsel, you will:

  1. Advise on regulatory matters affecting Square's global business, including UK Consumer Credit licensure, EU consumer credit rules, and Australian Credit licensure.
  2. Summarize and analyze the impact of new applicable rules and regulations.
  3. Identify risk areas and develop systems and procedures to manage and mitigate these risks at both product and enterprise levels.
  4. Ensure the business complies with local regulatory requirements while delivering innovative product solutions to customers.
  5. Represent Square in interactions with regulators and external partners regarding regulatory issues.
  6. Manage licensing applications and compliance for existing and new jurisdictions.
  7. Collaborate with colleagues across various Square teams globally.
Qualifications

You should have:

  • At least 6 years of experience in a law firm, financial regulatory agency, bank partnership, or in-house legal team, with lending advisory experience.
  • Experience with FinTech, lending, and banking issues.
  • Established relationships with relevant regulators and experience handling regulatory matters.
  • A high level of comfort with technology and understanding of how it applies to regulatory challenges.
