Job description

We are looking to recruit a hardworking Leisure Attendant/Lifeguard to join the team at Aspire @ the Park. Successful applicants should hold an up-to-date National Pool Lifeguard Qualification or STA or be able to demonstrate their ability to achieve this as part of the recruitment process.

In the event where the successful applicant does not hold an up-to-date National Pool Lifeguard Qualification, Wakefield Council will support the applicant in gaining this; however, it must be obtained within the first 3 months of employment.

Requirements for Qualification
  • You must be able to jump/dive into deep water, swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds, swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water, tread water for 30 seconds, surface dive to the floor of the pool, and climb out unaided without ladder/steps where the pool design permits.
  • This assessment will take place on the day of the interview prior to the NPLQ course.

There are several vacant 8-hour weekend lifeguarding positions available. Additional hours may also be available during the week for those interested.

The role requires someone who can ensure that the departmental services are provided to the highest standard with due recognition of clients’ and customers’ requirements in accordance with the Council’s Customer Care and Equal Opportunities policies.

It is essential that the successful candidate is able to work both individually and as part of a comprehensive team, demonstrating excellent communication skills and the ability to use their own initiative.
