Job summary

Village Hotels is seeking a proactive Leisure Assistant (Lifeguard) to join our team at our Knowsley/Liverpool area hotel. The role combines vigilant poolside lifeguarding with engaging leisure duties across the club, ensuring safety and a pristine environment for members and guests.

You will rotate between pool safety tasks and general leisure duties, maintain cleanliness, assist guests, and uphold our standards of service and safety.

Qualifications

• Must hold a lifeguard qualification and be able to respond to emergencies.
• Able to engage with members in a friendly, professional manner.
• Must maintain highest hygiene and cleanliness standards.

Responsibilities

• Poolside safety and first-response to emergencies during the 30-minute rotation.
• Carry out regular cleaning and maintain changing rooms to high standards.
• Engage with members, answer queries, and report defects to maintenance.
• Follow SOPs for cash handling, security and safety procedures.

Leisure Assistant (Lifeguard)

The Role Outline: Your Shift at a Glance

Let’s be completely transparent. This is primarily a Lifeguard role, but we do not expect you to sit in a chair staring at a pool for your entire shift. We operate a strict 30 minute rotation policy.

That means you will spend 30 minutes providing sharp, visual poolside lifeguarding in accordance with STA guidelines. After that, you rotate into your Leisure Assistant duties, moving around the club to maintain impeccable hygiene standards, keep our changing rooms squeaky clean, and chat with our members. You get the best of both worlds, keeping our members safe and keeping your day varied.

Your Working Week: What You Will Actually Be Doing

As our Leisure Assistant and Lifeguard, you are the key link in the chain that joins up great staff with memorable customer service. We trust you to handle:

• Poolside Safety (The 30 Minute Rotation): Maintaining vigilant poolside cover, responding immediately to alarms, and acting as the first responder in any emergency situation.

• Hygiene & Presentation: Carrying out periodic cleaning across the club, including male and female changing rooms, operating cleaning equipment, and strictly following COSHH regulations.

• Member Engagement: Being a friendly face on the floor, answering member queries, dealing with lost property professionally, and reporting any equipment defects immediately to the maintenance department.

• Statutory Compliance: Operating hotel cash handling, security, and emergency procedures, while ensuring all extras are in place according to our Standard Operating Procedures.
