With 24 years of leading industry experience, SMS Environmental, a leading water treatment and air quality management company specialising in Legionella control, ranks within the top 5% of water treatment providers within the UK.

Due to exciting company growth, we are now looking for a Legionella Risk Assessor to join our growing team across South Coast areas. You will help to deliver water system surveys and risk assessments to a variety of community-based customers, working across a wide range of building types including residences, small offices, large schools, commercial, care homes, and healthcare facilities. These roles are field-based, and regular travel will be a core part of the role.

In return, we offer a competitive salary up to £35,000 per annum, a 37.5-hour workweek (Monday - Friday), paid overtime based at 27.5% of project value, a company vehicle, fuel card, 30 days paid annual leave (including UK bank holidays), and multiple opportunities for career progression within the team and wider business.

Your Legionella Risk Assessor role:

• Ensuring customer and business compliance with ACoP L8, HSG274 part 2, BS 8580-1, and other relevant standards and guidance.
• Promoting and supporting health & safety standards at sites and in service delivery.
• Diagnosing faults within plumbing systems and recommending maintenance or remedial work.
• Coordinating with the internal SMS Quality Control/Assurance team to ensure documentation meets regulatory standards.

Requirements

Essential:

• Experience in the Water Hygiene Industry and/or conducting Risk Assessments.
• Built key client relationships to identify Legionella risks.
• Effective communication of Legionella details and client-focused solutions.
• Knowledge of UK health & safety legislation and risk monitoring.
• Strong IT skills, particularly with Apple applications.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable:

• Approved Legionella Risk Assessor Qualification (e.g., City & Guilds, BOHS, WMSoc); certification can be arranged for experienced candidates.

All roles require a DBS check; SMS Environmental will cover the cost if you do not already hold a valid DBS certificate.

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum, plus paid overtime at 27.5% of project value.
