We’re looking for a Legal Support Co-ordinator to join our legal and governance directorate at the National Trust. Reporting to the Directorate Services Manager, you’ll be part of a friendly and flexible legal and governance team, playing an integral role in providing high-quality support to our in-house lawyers and governance professionals.

Internally, you'll be known as 'Member of Legal Support Team'.

What it's like to work here

We’re bigger than you think, more complex than it appears, and larger in scale than you might imagine. We’ve got dedicated people across all our teams with more we want to achieve. We’re for ever, for everyone, and we truly mean that. We aim to grow beyond 5.5 million members and want everyone to feel welcome and enjoy access to the places we look after. We seek to reach new audiences in meaningful ways without losing the hearts and minds of our existing supporters.

Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon, with an expectation to attend the office 5 days a week.

What you'll be doing

You’ll be involved in all aspects of our legal and governance work, from undertaking background research in our deeds to assisting with legal transactions.

Known for your organizational skills and collaborative approach, you’ll provide comprehensive support to the legal and governance team. This includes maintaining filing systems, formatting documents, researching queries related to Trust property, conducting legal searches for property transactions, and liaising with the land registry regarding land transactions.

You’ll proactively identify and implement improvements to systems and processes, confidently challenging the status quo when you see a better way of doing things.

Who we're looking for

You can view the full role profile in the attached document. You don’t need to meet all listed qualifications; it’s a full picture of potential. We’d love to hear from you if you’re:

  • Experienced in an administrative, legal, or business support environment
  • A collaborator who uses customer service skills to build strong relationships
  • A problem solver capable of resolving differences of opinion
  • Able to handle cases with confidentiality
  • Confident in written and verbal communication
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize workloads
  • Organized with keen attention to detail

The package

The National Trust’s motto is ‘For everyone, for ever’. We’re committed to creating an inclusive culture where everyone feels they belong. We value diversity and aim to reflect and serve the communities and audiences we work with. We welcome and celebrate differences, and when we say we’re for everyone, we mean it.

  • Substantial pension scheme of up to 10% of basic salary
  • Free entry to National Trust places for you, a guest, and your children (under 18)
  • Rental deposit loan scheme
  • Season ticket loan
  • EV car lease scheme
  • Perks at work discounts (gym memberships, shopping discounts, cinema tickets)
  • Holiday allowance up to 32 days, with options to purchase additional holiday, based on length of service
  • Flexible working arrangements where possible
  • Employee assistance programme
  • Free parking at most Trust locations
