Job description

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure the effective delivery of legal advice on children’s social care, including Court of Protection cases, education law, and adult social care law. This includes SEND advice, school admission, school attendance, and providing advice to panels hearing appeals against refusal of home to school transport and school admission appeals.
  2. Manage a mixed caseload of Court of Protection cases; welfare applications, section 21A appeals, and applications under the Re X process. Handle education queries, including judicial reviews, particularly responding to pre-action protocol letters. The role does not include public child care proceedings.
  3. Have a sound understanding of adult and children’s social care law, Court of Protection law, and education law. Demonstrate knowledge of Data Protection law.
  4. Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills and effective IT skills.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Attend Court remotely and in person when requested.
  • Chair Round Table Meetings remotely.
