A leading law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary or Administration Assistant to support their Commercial & Private Client Litigation team in Taunton. This hybrid role involves providing high-level secretarial support, managing client files, and assisting fee earners in a collaborative environment. Ideal candidates will thrive in a fast-paced legal setting, demonstrating strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
We are working on behalf of a highly respected national law firm to recruit an experienced Legal Secretary or Administration Assistant to support their thriving Commercial & Private Client Litigation team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a collaborative and supportive environment where you’ll play a key role in enabling fee earners to deliver exceptional service.
The position is based in their Taunton office, with hybrid working in place. You will be required to work from the Taunton office three days a week.
You will provide a high level of secretarial and administrative support to busy fee earners.
Your responsibilities will include:
Opening, closing, and archiving client files
Producing legal documents and correspondence
Preparing PowerPoint presentations, seminar materials, and Excel spreadsheets
Performing anti-money laundering checks and drafting risk assessments
Running conflict checks and assisting with file compliance
Managing client finances, disbursements, and payments
Diary management, arranging travel, meetings, and events
Preparing and issuing invoices
Creating electronic bundles and managing digital filing
Acting as a key point of contact for clients—handling calls, messages, and appointments
Supporting colleagues during busy periods or covering absences
This is a busy and varied role that requires someone who can stay calm under pressure, juggle competing priorities, and maintain a high standard of accuracy and professionalism throughout.

Is highly organised, proactive, and able to work independently
Has excellent grammar, spelling, and strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel and PowerPoint
Enjoys supporting a team and engaging with clients
Has a flexible, can-do attitude and excellent interpersonal skills
Demonstrates initiative, discretion, and attention to detail
Has prior legal secretarial or administrative experience (desirable)
