What you’ll do

This role is ideal for someone with Legal PA / secretarial experience who thrives in a varied and fast-paced environment. You’ll be supporting lawyers across multiple teams, including those handling complex property issues and high-value private wealth disputes.

In this role you'll:

  • Deliver proactive administrative and secretarial support to lawyers across the team.
  • Coordinate diaries, travel, and meetings to ensure smooth scheduling and preparation.
  • Manage matter openings, ID checks, and compliance tasks in line with internal and regulatory standards.
  • Assist with property transactions, including conducting searches and liaising with the Land Registry.
  • Draft, format, and maintain legal documents, correspondence, and templates.
  • Support financial processes such as billing, expenses, and credit control.
  • Handle calls and correspondence professionally, acting as a key point of contact for clients.
  • Contribute to business development through client research, event coordination, and marketing support.
  • Occasionally travel to our Bristol office (expenses covered) to support cross-office collaboration.
  • Play an active role in team operations, with opportunities to grow into a lead or supervisory role.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a confident and capable Legal Support Assistant who brings initiative, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset. You’ll thrive in this role if you can demonstrate:

  • Experience in a legal support or secretarial role, ideally within a professional services environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Excellent organisational abilities, with confidence managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • A proactive, adaptable approach to anticipating and meeting the needs of the team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with legal practice management systems.
  • A solid understanding of compliance processes, including Lexcel and anti-money laundering requirements.
  • A genuine interest or background in property law, particularly in rural land, landlord and tenant matters, title disputes, or development work is highly desirable.
  • A team-focused attitude, with a willingness to learn and grow within the role.
  • Ideally, you’ll be based within commuting distance of Exeter or Bristol and comfortable with regular office attendance.
