Job description

Thomson Reuters Foundation is seeking a Legal Manager, Global to join our TrustLaw team.

TrustLaw is the global pro bono service of the Thomson Reuters Foundation, providing free legal assistance to NGOs and social enterprises worldwide, along with legal research and capacity-building workshops.

The Legal Manager, Global will oversee pro bono project management, engagement with our legal network, and specific initiatives like the TrustLaw Index of Pro Bono and Fees & Hours collection. Reporting to the Head of Legal, they will manage a Programme Coordinator and a Programme Officer, and work from London.

About the Role

The Legal Manager will:

1. Provide strategic direction for the Global Legal Team and TrustLaw services.
2. Lead legal project reviews ensuring quality and professionalism.
3. Manage knowledge on legal scoping and research processes.
4. Oversee strategic legal research projects.
5. Monitor pro bono project flow and key metrics.
6. Drive sector initiatives like the TrustLaw Index and Fees & Hours data collection.
7. Strengthen engagement with the global legal network and sector partnerships.
8. Manage the Global Legal Team, supporting their development.
9. Co-chair Legal Team meetings and deputize for the Head of Legal.

About You

The ideal candidate will:

1. Be a qualified lawyer with 5+ years’ experience, preferably in a corporate or pro bono environment.
2. Have project management experience and a detail-oriented approach.
3. Be proactive, solutions-focused, and experienced in working with global teams.
