Job summary

Insight Recruitment Solutions Limited is seeking an experienced Underwriter for its client, a well-established specialist in legal indemnity insurance, to join the underwriting team in London. You'll underwrite residential, commercial and development risks for solicitors, licensed conveyancers and brokers, guiding enquiries from initial query to quotation and policy.

Reporting to the Director of Underwriting, you will assess each risk against insurer guidelines, set premiums, and ensure cover

Qualifications

• Experience underwriting legal indemnity, title insurance or conveyancing.
• Ability to assess risk against guidelines and set fair, profitable premiums.
• Strong client-facing skills with fast, clear communication.
• Attention to detail and sound commercial judgement.
• Familiarity with FCA Conduct Rules and regulated processes.

Job description

A well-established specialist in legal indemnity insurance is looking for an Underwriter to join its underwriting team. Reporting into the Director of Underwriting, you'll underwrite residential, commercial and development risks for solicitors, licensed conveyancers and brokers. Your job is to take each enquiry from first query to quotation and then to policy. You'll assess each risk against the guidelines agreed with the insurer and set premiums that are fair to the client and profitable for the business. You'll work within your own delegated authority and make sure cover notes and policies go out accurately and on time, and also support the bespoke underwriting team on more complex cases.

Clients will contact you mostly by phone and email, so fast, clear and professional service is central to the role. So is building relationships that bring in more business. You'll keep up to date with property law, conveyancing practice and insurance regulation and also follow delegated authority requirements, Contract Certainty, Treating Customers Fairly and the FCA Conduct Rules.

The role would suit someone with legal indemnity, title insurance or conveyancing experience who wants to grow in a specialist, client-facing underwriting position. You'll need a sound commercial sense, close attention to detail and confidence when talking to clients.
