Structure

The Investment Legal team is part of the Global Banking & Markets Legal group. We support the Private Investor Product Group (PIPG) within Goldman Sachs' Equities division, covering structured products across various asset classes. Our legal team advises on retail and institutional structured products transactions, including structuring, documentation negotiations, and regulatory considerations. The role offers exposure to a fast-paced trading and structuring environment, supporting the full product lifecycle from development to redemption.

Your Impact

• Support the PIPG business as a Birmingham-based lawyer within the legal division.
• Advise on retail and institutional structured products and private placements across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and other non-US jurisdictions.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure transactions comply with legal and regulatory standards while achieving business goals.
• Participate in implementing regulatory initiatives related to consumer rights, investor protection, and other relevant regulations.

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer in England and Wales or an EU jurisdiction, recently qualified or junior level.
• Interest in banking or finance, including capital markets, structured products/derivatives, or regulatory areas.
• Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and work outside comfort zones.
• Quick learner, critical thinker, capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
• Highly organized with strong multitasking skills and deadline management.
• Confident in drafting and reviewing legal agreements with attention to detail.
• Excellent communicator and relationship builder, collaborative team player.
• Commercially aware, solutions-oriented, understanding business drivers behind legal advice.
• Previous in-house experience (including secondments) is advantageous.
