Structure Investment Legal sits within the Global Banking & Markets Legal group and provides legal support to the Private Investor Product Group (“PIPG”) within Goldman Sachs’ Equities business, covering structured products across various asset classes. The legal team advises on transaction structuring, negotiation of deal documentation, and regulatory considerations, supporting the full product lifecycle from development to redemption.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Supporting the PIPG business as a Birmingham-based lawyer within the legal division.
  • Advising on retail and institutional structured products and private placement transactions across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and other non-US jurisdictions.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure transactions comply with legal and regulatory requirements while achieving business objectives.
  • Participating in the implementation of regulatory initiatives related to consumer rights, investor protection, and other relevant regulations.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Qualified as a lawyer in England and Wales or an EU jurisdiction, either newly qualified or with junior experience.
  • Interest in banking or finance, including capital markets, derivatives, or regulatory law.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and explore new areas outside comfort zones.
  • Quick learner and critical thinker capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in drafting and reviewing legal agreements with strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communicator and relationship builder with a collaborative approach and a willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Commercially aware and solutions-oriented, understanding the business drivers behind legal advice.
  • Previous in-house experience, including secondments, is advantageous.
